Miniature Toroids

Here is an example of a solid aluminum toroid. I have made several dozen of them so far, and getting the technique down has been lots of work, but also lots of fun. I have been building tesla coils my whole life, and I am a machinist by trade, so doing this project was a natural for me. Recently, I have been interested in making very small hi frequency Tesla Coils since they are nice and portable and also sooo cute! The one thing that seemed to be lacking was a really nice toroid for a topload. So, I went off on a tangent and started making these...

These little guys are awesome! They are almost mirror finished. They are solid aluminum so you can't dent one even you you drop it.  I can make them very small, around an inch in diameter, or larger, maybe up to 4 inches in diameter. I can also vary the fatness, and inside and outside diameters to specifications, or to a requested capacitance value. These little guys are easy to polish with some 600 grit sandpaper, if you happen to get some scuffs on it.

These small toroids are perfect for all kinds of miniature and HV applications. Two of these will hold back an arc discharge from a ridiculously close proximity. I would love to start making these for folks if there is enough interest. Please understand the aluminum stock is fairly expensive, and the process is fairly time consuming. If anyone is interested in these please send me an e-mail.
